Former Portugal defender Jose Fonte believes Sporting Lisbon will have to let star striker Victor Gyökeres leave at some point if the right price is met.
The 26-year-old forward has been heavily link with a move away from Old Trafford since last summer after impressing for the club, and it has only intensify with boss Ruben Amorim moving to Manchester United, who are understand to be in the market for a new centre-forward.
Fonte believes that at some point, it is inevitable that Gyökeres will leave Sporting, saying: “The Portuguese club has no choice but to sell the player when the price is right.”
“We need to sell – Portuguese clubs need one or two players every season. We don’t have the TV rights like the Premier League, so we don’t have the capacity to keep players.”

“That is what people from various federations are trying to achieve. Sporting will listen, and likely will have to sell Gyokeres, as Portuguese clubs need to raise a lot of money every year,” he concluded.
The Swedish international has already been link with ‘giants’ such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. And José Fonte, a former center-back train at the Alvalade club. Believes that the leadership under Frederico Varandas will have no choice but to sell him soon.
